Gallery One - Glass Tapestries
All of the work exhibited in this gallery is from my "Glass Tapestry" Series. "Glass Tapestries" is the name I´ve
given to a body of my work incorporating the use of vitreous enamels. These sculptures consists of strips of copper which have gone through
several "courses" prior to being cold connected to a steel armature which hangs on the wall.
A sculpture begins by cutting copper to the desired sizes. The edges of the pieces of copper are filed and finished prior to hammering flat
over an anvil. Each of the copper pieces is run through several "courses" to attain the desired physical and visual results. One
course consists of proper cleaning of the copper, an application of surfactant, an application of holding agent, an application of 3-5 coats
of enamel (with a coat of holding agent in between each enamel coat), drying, firing in a kiln, submerging the piece in a warm pickle to remove
scale, cleaning with water and hand drying. Each color is applied and fired separately in the kiln.
The back of the piece of copper must have the same amount of enamel as the front so each of the individual strips goes through multiple courses
and firings in the kiln. When all the courses are complete, the copper strips are coated and cold connected to the finished armature.
Gallery Two - Mission Series
Gallery Two consists of my mission series. Each of the missions is made from of steel and connected to a wooden backdrop serving as a frame
and imparting additional depth. If a mission contains a bell tower, the bell is made of fine silver. Although I will repeat a mission, each
is an original and as such, will contain its own distinguishing characteristics along with my custom stamp, marking it as an original.
Gallery Three - Spiritual
Pieces exhibited in this gallery are spiritual in nature. Spiritual works exhibited in this gallery may be religious or non-religious in nature.
Gallery Four
Gallery Four consists of works from my "Rod and Ball" Series, abstracts, and any other work not classified in the other three
galleries listed above.
